ribbons. Of course, he takes the very best of care of our youngest riders (and advanced riders
too) here at home. He always asks for confirmation from Miss Sue before trotting or cantering
with a young rider. He truly takes care of them! Ben loves life – loves to lick and play with things. He is Mr. Personality and has a very big fan club!

Favorite thing: Attention from all his riders, and treats of course!

Is the absolute best at:

He has a trot and canter that are perfect for teaching riders to keep their balance. Smooth and comfortable, but he can jump the moon! He’s a gentleman – and a little bit silly. Irish was rescued St. Patrick’s Day weekend 2003, and has been a favorite ever since! Only weighing 350 pounds, his recovery took a full 18 months. He is now a strong and happy boy and carries small adults and children with care! Kiss him! He has the Luck of the Irish!

Favorite thing: Having his forehead brushed with a very soft brush.

Being a quiet, steady, unflappable mount. She has restored the confidence in many of our riders who have had bad experiences. She has very comfortable gaits and has read the book on being a lesson pony. Tempest takes care of her people, and is a little shy about expressing herself. Tempi has been one of our most consistent horse show winners – she has more
Championships than anyone!

Making an even bigger impression!!! She is the tallest horse in our stable, and has the gentlest disposition of all. Cory is unflappable and is indeed a Gentle
Giant. She was born here on the farm and quickly became everyone's favorite. Cory enjoys
being ridden by our intermediate and some advanced beginner students. She is very good at
cavaletti and even jumps a little. Like all the big horses, we limit her jumping to preserve her soundness.

Favorite thing: Just being ridden - and apples of course.

Is the absolute best at:

Being an energetic and very smart Pony! Lily loves to be ridden, but often plays tricks on her rider- like shying at things that she is not afraid of. The more you get to know her, you ignore her antics and enjoy her enthusiasm and beautiful gaits.  She has the most rhythmic canter in the world! Lily is ridden by our intermediate riders and even some of our Advanced Beginners. She is the pony that makes riders earn the right to ride. She never disappoints!

Is the absolute best at:

Being a Pony for Adults in their second childhood, and carrying
riders of all sizes safely and confidently around the arena. He is never afraid, and gives his
riders a lot of confidence through his own. He loves to jump and is knows some basic Dressage. He is a favorite of our Adult riders who need a sturdy but not-too-tall mount. He is ridden by beginners through advanced riders. Alfie was started under saddle by the Woodruff Riding School at the age of five. He is a stellar student! And a lot of fun to ride.

Favorite thing: Eating. He loves treats, but it's best to limit them.

Being a Leadline Show Pony! Boy can she turn some heads with her exceptional personality and looks! She loves to walk/ trot/canter and jump. She does everything with a twinkle in her eye. Always quiet and tractable at horse shows, she wins a lot of ribbons too. Due to her tiny size, she is best for our youngest riders. She was started here at
Woodruff by our students and is one of the favorites.

Favorite thing: Being first at the gate to greet you any time of day!

Is the absolute best at: Making an impression!!! She is big, beautiful and carries herself and her rider with elegance. Monet loves flatwork and is very balanced for such a big
horse. She carries our taller riders and even does some jumping. Because of her size, we do limit her work over fences, but she likes some variety in her work. She can be a little choosy about her riders and will try her very best for a skilled, kind rider. Her fluffy feathers always make a statement wherever she may go.

Favorite thing: Trail Riding and Dressage.

Is the absolute best at:

Being a kind, trusting young horse. Scarlett was an Auction rescue and a kind friend brought her and her mother from Oklahoma to Virginia when she was only 7 months old. Scarlett came to Woodruff when she was about 3 years old. She was
started and trained by the students (with help from Sue of course!) and is going to be a fantastic lesson pony. Scarlett is ridden only by our Intermediate riders until she has a firm handle on her job, but she is going to be amazing. Just wait and see!

Is the absolute best at:

Being the star of the show! Twinkle was born in a large herd in New York and was rescued by Solitude Morgan Rescue. Twinkle was adopted as a future lesson pony because of her unflappable temperament and sweet disposition. The students started Twinkle and she is happy to do everything the big ponies do. She is even learning to drive a cart! Twinkle is being ridden only by our Intermediate students until she grows up.

Favorite thing: People. Give her some attention and see her eyes Twinkle!

Is the absolute best at: Showing off with her beautiful movement and beguiling eyes.  She is first to the fence in the Pony Paddock and wants to be the one you pick!  Pony has been on loan to us from a lifelong friend where she has been able to reward young riders with the honor of riding her.  It was a speedy start, but she is turning into a lovely children's mount. She tries very, very hard to please her rider and the teacher.  She turns an ear then an eye when the job is well done and she hears the crinkle of a peppermint wrapper. Ponies do smile!
